WAUWATOSA – The Wausau Wolfpack high school girls lacrosse team separate a pair of contests held at Wauwatosa East High School on Saturday, April nine.

The Wausau Wolfpack high school girls lacrosse team began their 2022 flavor on Saturday, April nine in Wauwatosa. Lily Sann (25) battles for the ball during a fifteen-ane loss to the Westside Madison Crusaders.

The team roughshod to the Westside Madison Crusaders in a lopsided first contest 15-one. The Wolfpack came from behind to defeat the Wauwatosa Blazers six-5 on a late goal by junior Riah Weiland in the 2nd game of the afternoon.

The Wauwatosa squad got out to an early on lead with a goal but 30 seconds into the contest. The Wolfpack tied upwards the game on a goal by junior Lily Sann two minutes into the half. A goal past senior Nora Imhoff gave the Wolfpack a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later. The 2-1 score held until halftime, just was rapidly erased in the second one-half on a pair of quick goals in the start three minutes by the Blazers. Wauwatosa stretched the lead to four-two at the xix-infinitesimal mark.

The Wolfpack team surged back into the atomic number 82 on 3 consecutive goals, the first from Sann with an help from Imhoff and and then the tying and get-ahead goals from sophomore Brooke Schaefer. Schaefer's starting time score came on a shot circling from behind to the left of the goal, while the second score came on a centering feed from Sann.

Wauwatosa tied the game at five with a goal with six minutes left in the half. A penalty shot and breakaway for the Wauwatosa team were both denied tardily by Wolfpack junior goalie Amelia Speichinger. Schaefer missed a backhand shot with merely more than three minutes left in the game before Weiland scored the winning shot in the final minute from a difficult bending from the left side of the net, leading to the half dozen-5 final score.

"I was worried that the defender was going to make it my way on the last shot or information technology was going to bounce off." Weiland said. "We showed a lot of dandy teamwork today and we accept a lot of conviction at present."

In the first game, Westside Madison too got out to a quick lead, scoring six goals earlier the Wolfpack had even one assail on goal. Leading 9-0 at the half, the Westside team extended their lead to fifteen-0 earlier a late goal by  Imhoff giving the Wolfpack their kickoff score of the season.

Before in the morning time, Westside Madison downed the Wauwatosa team x-5. The Wauwatosa Blazers team is made upwards of players from both Wauwatosa Due east and Wauwatosa Westward high schools. The Westside Madison team has a roster comprised of players from Madison Memorial, Madison West and Edgewood loftier schools.

The Wolfpack travels to Cedarburg for a pair of games on Saturday, April 16. The squad will play DeForest at noon and Cedarburg at 1:30 p.m. at Cedarburg High School.
